about

This album features some new material I was writing in the early nineties, when I was putting together Emilio Solla y Afines (right before moving to Spain) together with 3 cuts form the LP we had recorded in 1986 with Apertura, the sextet I was part of from 1983 to 1989: A don Simon, Bela Tangok and En aquel rincon...

The compilation was released as an album by PDI in Spain in 1997 and I decided to make it available here as I believe it shows the foundation of all the music I've written and recorded in the following years, specially I strongly feel that the material by Apertura was quite groundbreaking at that time in Buenos Aires, even if we were still too young and unexperienced. You can see also in this album a first sketch of what would become the Suite Piazzollana that I recorded in Barcelona in 2001.

I hope you will enjoy it! Emilio
